Since I have two schools, I like to set out my lessons for Tuesday at the one school, because I’m at the other school on Monday. It just makes it easier. And then I take a picture of it, so over the weekend, if I need to look up a song or anything else to add to the lesson, I’ll remember what I’m doing for each program. This interactive scarecrow book and poster is a lot of fun. It’s a simple lesson that I use for early childhood or autism programs. The students place a crow/blackbird on the scarecrow and ID/label body parts/clothes, spatial concepts, work on vocabulary, answer WH and yes/no questions, and lots more. This lesson can be expanded by adding a simple paper bag scarecrow craft or some other fun centers activitity. Painting with corn is a simple and fun activity or making crows using the children’s hand prints as the wings are two easy things to make. Pinterest always has great ideas, that are inexpensive, doable, and fun! Lots of opportunity for building language during this lesson. Kiboomers has a fun scarecrow song too! I’ll be checking in with other ideas, so stay connected and we will get through the year together; creating amazing speech, language, and literacy packed lessons! All the best, Monae 🙂
