Bring the outdoors in! I love using crazy vegetables and interesting scents in my lessons. Awakening the senses of my students is a great way to promote language. Imagine the look on their faces when they see these “alien ” pumpkins… pure excitement! Sometimes I’ll bring a lime, a lemon, and an orange, cut it open and have them smell the difference. We are always touching and feeling textures and working on those basic concepts (smooth/bumpy, crooked/straight, etc.). You can do this with your child at home. Talk about the different smells and textures in the kitchen or at the park. Smell the fall leaves. It’s a great time of the year to open our senses. Enjoy the weekend! Best regards, Monae 🙂
